Kids First Head Start Kids First Head Start is a school in the Hitchcock Independent School District currently serving grades Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4. School Hours: 7:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Drop-Off: Begins at 7 a.m. Extended Care: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Breakfast: 7 a.m. - 8 a.m. Rules of the Road:

📅🐾 NEW SCHOOL YEAR, NEW CALENDAR!

As we prepare to welcome our Bulldogs back on Tuesday, August 11, we want to remind students and families that Hitchcock ISD will begin our Modified Four-Day Instructional Week for the 2026–27 school year.

Here’s what families need to know:

❤️ Most Fridays will be student holidays but that begins in September.
🖤 The first Friday of each month will generally be a school day.
❤️ There are also strategic full weeks throughout the year, including August, December, January and May ("Strong Start, Strong Finish").
🖤 Select Fridays will be used for targeted academic support and enrichment.
❤️ The school day has been extended by approximately 15 minutes, so students receive the same required instructional minutes.

The easiest rule: Don’t assume Friday is off! Check the district calendar each week so you know when students are expected on campus.

It is with heavy hearts that Hitchcock ISD shares the passing of one of our own, Dorothy Hogues.

A proud Hitchcock native and 1988 graduate of Hitchcock High School, Dorothy returned home after retiring from Aldine ISD to continue doing what she loved most—serving children. As a valued member of our Transportation Department, Dorothy cared for students each day as a bus monitor and Head Start van driver, greeting them with a smile, a kind word, and a heart full of love.

Dorothy was the kind of person who never hesitated to help others. She cared deeply for those around her, always making time for anyone in need and offering encouragement, comfort, and friendship. Her kindness touched students, staff, families, and fellow employees throughout our district.

Her passing leaves a tremendous void in the Hitchcock ISD family, especially within our Transportation Department and among the many students whose lives she brightened each day.

As a lifelong Bulldog, Dorothy's story came full circle—from walking the halls of Hitchcock High School as a student to serving the next generation of Bulldogs with the same love and care that defined her life.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dorothy's daughter, grandchild, family members, friends, and loved ones, including those who serve alongside us here at Hitchcock ISD.

Please keep the Hogues and Woodard families in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Families of registered STEM Camp students, it's almost time for an incredible summer of learning and discovery!

A mandatory parent meeting will be held to review camp information, complete required paperwork, meet staff, and answer any questions you may have.

Congratulations to Marina Murray, Kids First Head Start Teacher of the Year, and Tiffany McCullough, Kids First Head Start Paraprofessional of the Year!

These two dedicated educators make a difference in the lives of our youngest learners every day through their commitment, compassion, and love for children. Their hard work helps create a strong foundation for student success and reflects the very best of Kids First Head Start.

Hitchcock ISD will be serving FREE breakfast and lunch to all children and teens ages 18 and under this summer! ❤️🖤🤍

• Hitchcock High School
• Hitchcock Primary School

🗓 June 1–18 (Monday–Thursday)

⚠️ June 15–18 service will be available at Hitchcock High School only.

⏰ Meal Times:
🍳 Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
🥪 Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

There is no cost to participate, and no registration is required.
