Yesterday was a HUGE day for some of our Challenge students! Our Challenge B class had their mock trial. They've been preparing a murder case to be heard in front of a judge and jury for their Debate strand this semester.
One of our CC Hiram Challenge B Moms put it well:
"Mock Trial is a way for them to practice skills such as public speaking, critical thinking and persuasive presentation. Today was the day they were able to apply those skills. We spent the entire morning at the Cherokee County courthouse observing these amazing students act as prosecution and defense in 2 back to back trials.
After spending 9 years of my career in a courtroom, I was blown away to hear the students argue their cases. They sounded like actual lawyers! It was clear that both teams studied and prepared their cases. I’m so proud of Sarah and her class. I saw a side of Sarah I have never seen before throughout this process. She walked away wanting more. Who knows what her future holds?!?!"
Last night was also "Protocol" for our oldest students.
One of our Challenge 1 Moms said this about Protocol:
"This event allows high school students to practice proper etiquette for formal occasions. This is not a dating event, rather a training event to practice the skills of participating in formal functions with ease. I love that CC recognizes that the children we are raising will one day be leaders of their homes, churches, local organizations, and communities. Quite possibly, some will even be leaders on a national or international scale.
Protocol also focuses on helping students learn to appreciate truth, goodness, and beauty as they fulfill the Lord’s purposes for their lives. No matter where they are called, students will need to wield skills of courtesy and grace through appropriate manners and considerate behavior. ❤
I'm thankful for all of these students, their directors, and this opportunity in the high school years!"
We are blessed to have these absolutely amazing students as leaders in our own community here in Hiram! The way they love, play alongside, encourage and teach our younger students is a blessing to all of us at CC Hiram!
