Learning Streams International Institute is a collaborative of educators, scientists, students and local citizens from around the world dedicated to improving learning in science. The collaborative incorporates what we have learned from two decades of research on education and brain development combined with innovative technologies applied to real science investigations carried out by students. 5:00p Arrive to Camp Asbury; check in Epworth Center (boys) and Otterbein Center (girls)
5:30p Dinner in dining hall
6:30p Ice breaker with NPMs
7:30p Work session 1: Each LC revises the crests they constructed this summer; snacks. Return to bunks when completed.
10:30p Lights out

Saturday, September 23
8:00a Breakfast in dining hall
9:00a Ice breaker with NPMs
9:30a Work session 2: conservation easement scenario with iTree – focus on ecosystem services. Collect data in the field and process in meeting space. Take breaks as needed (frisbee golf).
Each LC prepares a one page report to share.
12:00p Lunch in dining hall
1:00p Ice breaker with NPMs to fight off food coma
1:30p Work session 3: LCs revisit and revise their community action plans (CAP) in light of the information they collected as their homework.
Form groups composed of no more than one member from each LC (ideally). One by one, each member presents their CAP. Use charrette protocol to provide feedback.
LCs reform to share what they have learned during the charette; revise CAPS.
4:00p Free time
5:30p Dinner in dining hall
6:30p Tree scavenger hunt. Groups have 30 minutes to collect as many tree samples as possible and 1 hr to identify them.
8:00p Capture the Flag? Snacks
10:30p Lights out

Sunday, September 24
8:00a Breakfast in dining hall
9:00a Ice breaker with NPMs
9:30a Work session 4: Each LC develops a 10 minute presentation on their CAP. Jim will provide a template that includes specifics like what action are you taking, what permissions are necessary to complete that action, who is in charge of making sure that action gets finished, what is the timeline for the action.
11:30a Break down bunks
12:00p Lunch will be available, students are welcome to depart if transportation available

Clothes (in addition to what you have on)

● 3 pairs Socks
● 1 Short Sleeve T-Shirt
● Footwear (what you have on or these should be able to get wet)
● Poncho or raincoat
● 2 Sweaters or Sweatshirt
● One jacket for outdoors if you want something over a sweatshirt
● 1 pr extra Jeans and/or Field Pants

Toiletries
● Toothbrush & Toothpaste
● Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
● Q-Tips
● Other Practical Items
● Glasses/Contacts (If needed)
● Sunglasses (If needed)
● Kleenex, a few small plastic Ziploc bags, a bigger bag for used clothes
● Medication (i.e. Asthma Inhaler or EpiPen and etc.)
● Personal needs for hygine

Other
● Folding Umbrella
● Sunscreen & Bug Spray
● Wallet (Pocket Money Optional – you won’t need any or have a place to spend it)
● Small Backpack for in the field
● Pencils/ Pens
● Binoculars (Optional)
● Cell Phone & Charger
● Laptop, Chromebook at least 2 per School
● Flashlight or headlamp or your cell phone can substitute
● a linen packet with sheets, a blanket, OR A Sleeping bag
