We are very proud to officially announce, Haley Copenhaver will be receiving the American FFA Degree at the 99th National FFA Convention in October! Haley is only the second recipient of this award from the Hinton FFA Chapter. This award is the highest achievement set forth by the National FFA Organization and earned by less than one percent of all FFA members. To be eligible to receive the American FFA Degree, members must meet qualifications such as receiving a State FFA Degree, holding active membership for the past three years, completing secondary instruction in an agricultural education program and operating an outstanding supervised agricultural experience program. Community service, leadership abilities and outstanding scholastic achievement are also required. Congratulations, Haley!

The Hinton FFA team made up of Brooks Beitelspacher, Izzy Hodgson, Mady Hoppe, and Taylor DeRocher competed in the State FFA Veterinary Science contest and earned 4th place! This Career Development Event is designed to provide students an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Veterinary Science. A total of 92 individuals competed in the contest and participated in a general knowledge examination focusing on veterinary science. The team members also completed a written scenario and prepared a video focusing on proper veterinary clinical practices. We are additionally proud to announce our chapter was the 1st place team in the Clinical Procedure Practicum! For the Clinical Procedure Practicum, our team scripted, filmed, and edited a video demonstrating proper procedure for administering a subcutaneous injection. Additionally, they were evaluated on the video quality and organization, their method of delivery, and their ability to demonstrate safety precautions. Congratulations and awesome job team!

Thank you to our furry friends, Lola and Lila, for visiting the Vet Science class this week! The students evaluated their body condition scores to assess their nutritional status, and to determine if they are at an ideal weight.

Five FFA members competed in Sub District Leadership Development Events (LDEs) at Kingsley-Pierson High School.
Lainee Sitzmann, Mady Hoppe, and Brooklyn Grasmeyer competed in Chapter Program and received a Gold rating. They will be advancing to Districts in March.
Kimmy Hoefling competed in the Job Interview contest and received a Silver rating.
Averie Vondrak competed in Creed Speaking and received a Bronze rating.

The Hinton Agricultural Education Program has been awarded a grant to purchase additional materials for the Curriculum for Agriculture Science Education (CASE)- Animal Health and Veterinary Science course! We would like to give our sincerest appreciation to the grant application committee at CASE and to Corteva Agriscience for selecting our program for this funding. Stay tuned for more photos of students doing awesome things in this course!
