Back to School! 🎉📚

What a wonderful first day! 💕 We are so happy to see our classrooms filled with **smiles, laughter, curiosity, and excitement** as we begin another amazing school year.

🚒🔥 **As part of our final week of summer at Montessori Gifted Prep,** our Children's House friends had the exciting opportunity to get an up-close look at a real fire truck and learn about the equipment firefighters use to keep our community safe. Our Toddler Community also joined the visit and thoroughly enjoyed watching the fire truck and learning about the important work firefighters do.

A heartfelt thank you to the Hinsdale Fire Department for taking the time to visit our school, share their knowledge, and engage our children in such a fun and educational experience. Your kindness and dedication made today a memorable one for our students!

As part of our Global Awareness theme, we explored China today! We found China on the globe, looked at traditional clothing from different ethnic groups, and learned about famous landmarks such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. We also learned how chopsticks are used for eating, and we enjoyed tasting delicious Chinese rice crackers. It was a wonderful hands-on way to experience Chinese culture through maps, clothing, traditions, and food! 🥢

This child explored our South America Puzzle Map and took it a step further with a Montessori extension. After tracing a country piece, she used a hole‑punch to create a perforated outline, carefully cut it out, and then matched her paper countries back to the continent. This multi‑step work builds fine motor strength, concentration, and a deeper understanding of geography through hands‑on discovery.

At Montessori Gifted Prep, children explore language through hands‑on, meaningful materials. In this work, the child is using Mandarin three‑part cards, matching the picture, the label, and the control card to build vocabulary, visual discrimination, and early reading readiness in a second language.

When children are given time, space, and beautifully prepared materials, their concentration deepens and their learning becomes joyful and self‑driven.

At Montessori Gifted Prep, children build confidence through meaningful, hands‑on work. Practical life activities, like peeling fruit, pouring, sorting, and caring for their environment, strengthen fine motor skills, concentration, and independence.
