🎨 Big congratulations to our amazing artists! 🎨

đź’» Jovith Subramanian (now a freshman) had his original animation, created using Photoshop and Adobe After Effects, selected by a panel of judges from the Illinois Art Education Association as among the best in Illinois for the Student Animation Showcase! His work demonstrates exceptional creativity, storytelling, and technical skill.

👏 Wally Konsoer (now in 8th grade) and Serenity Vaden (now a freshman) were also chosen by a panel of IAEA judges for the prestigious Illinois Arts Education Traveling Exhibition—an honor awarded to only 45 students statewide as the top young artists in Illinois! Their artwork will travel to locations across the state throughout the year, including Hinsdale Hospital.

We’re so proud of these talented artists for representing our school and community with creativity, innovation, and excellence! 🌟

We’re proud to share that 21 student artists from HMS represented our school at the District Art Show! Their creativity, skill, and individuality shone through every piece, whether it was paint, pencil, or digital art created in Photoshop.
Art gave these students something powerful: a way to express who they are and how they see the world. It helped them grow as thinkers and creators. And in a sea of students with similar academic achievements, creativity set them apart. It gave them a voice—and a step up.
“Art is how we tell our stories when words fall short.”
We couldn’t be prouder of these outstanding young artists and the role creativity continues to play in shaping confident, original thinkers.

Digital Media 2 students had an incredible day exploring creativity in action! We toured the special effects studios at Columbia College, gaining firsthand insight into the world of film and visual effects. Then we hit downtown Chicago for an art and architecture photo safari—snapping images, studying design, and seeing the city through a creative lens. Along the way, we spotted some digital art enhanced with augmented reality in Millennium Park. A full day of inspiration, exploration, and visual storytelling!

🎉 Huge congratulations to Ella Kessler (7th grade) and Lily Claire Barber (8th grade)! 🎉

Out of 2,500+ National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) entries, only 131 artworks were selected at the middle and high school levels—an incredible achievement! But there’s even more exciting news…

🏆 Ella’s artwork earned the highest score in the NJAHS drawing category and was awarded "Best in Show!" 👏

We couldn’t be prouder of both of you! The gallery is now live—check out their amazing work here: https://www.arteducators.org/national-art-honor-societies/articles/2400-2025-njahs-juried-exhibition

Thank you, District 181, for reducing art class sizes from as many as 31 to a cap of 25 students! With this support, our students reached new heights at the regional art show, where awards jumped from an average of 7 to 17 this year! More personal attention helped every young artist—winner or not—grow, create, and feel truly seen. Smaller classes empower students to take risks, build skills, and feel a stronger sense of belonging in our school. 🎨💪

Thank you for championing the arts and helping our students shine! 🖌️✨

Special congratulations to two HMS students, Lias Katz (now in 9th grade) and Marilyn O'Day (8th grade), who had artwork chosen for the IAEA - Illinois Art Education Association student show! Their artwork was chosen to represent 45 of the best of the best from over 500 exemplary works of art state-wide. Only a few were chosen per grade level K-12. It will be coming to Hinsdale Hospital in June! Congratulations!
