Fusion Academy in Hingham, MA opened in 2020 as Fusion’s 60th campus nationwide. Fusion Hingham is a private school where classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. Our Teacher/Mentors can personalize curriculum and pacing for their students’ strengths, interests, and learning style. Students may attend full-time for middle and high school or part-time with classes for credit, tutoring and mentoring, post-secondary counseling, and more. We offer rolling enrollment so students can start at any point, even mid-semester or mid-year.

We are excited to celebrate Victoria as a Fusion Academy National Teacher of the Year Nominee.

Victoria’s passion for learning, culture, and connection makes a lasting impact at Fusion Hingham. From leading engaging celebrations for Lunar New Year, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and other cultural observances to sparking student curiosity and creativity, she helps make learning meaningful and inclusive.
Over the past three years, she has grown into a teacher mentor, campus ambassador, and trusted leader who supports both students and staff. Whether personalizing lessons around student interests, welcoming new teachers, or brightening someone’s day with a thoughtful gesture, Victoria creates a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and inspired to learn.

In conventional schools, motivation often comes from external pressure — grades, competition, fear. But that kind of motivation is fragile. It exhausts students. 🥺

Real motivation comes from something else: knowing you have support. Knowing you can ask for help without judgment. Knowing someone is paying attention to whether you're actually succeeding.

When a student feels that, they stop pushing through obstacles and start solving them. And focus becomes possible.

When a student struggles in traditional school, the blame usually falls on the student. Lazy. Unmotivated. Not trying hard enough. 😵‍💫

But what if the problem isn't the student? What if it's that the system was never designed for how they learn? One lesson, one pace, 30 kids — that's efficient. But it's not effective for every learner.

At Fusion, we built something different. One teacher, one student, one approach tailored to how that specific student learns. And everything changes.

Belonging changes everything. When a student feels seen, known, and accepted for who they are - something shifts. They show up differently. They take risks. They begin to believe there is a place for them.

For 11 years at Barnstable Academy, Jeff has been doing something rare: he's built a classroom where curiosity is contagious. Students leave his STEM classes still buzzing about experiments and discoveries.

But Jeff's impact ripples far beyond his classroom. He opens his door to colleagues. Leads professional development. Mentors teachers. Organizes the school events. And after the bell rings? He's hosting game nights, building community.
