‘Imiloa Hawai‘i weaves today’s newest astronomy findings and Hawai‘i’s cultural heritage into a compelling story of star exploration. www.imiloahawaii.org

Hawai‘i’s cultural past connects with the present and the future at ‘Imiloa Hawai‘i located in Hilo on Hawai‘i’s Big Island. Lighting ʻImiloa green for Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Mental health matters—just as much as physical health. This May, we join communities across Hawaiʻi in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and reminding everyone: you matter, and you are not alone.

Take a moment today to care for your mind—be kind to yourself, talk to someone you trust, and take small steps forward. Support is always within reach.

Sunday, April 26~

Come to ʻImiloa for a day with special enhancement activities, centered around our kai and lawaiʻa practices. This community-centered event is inspired by the Hawaiian ʻōlelo noʻeau:
“E ʻAi Kekahi, E Kāpī Kekahi”, which reminds us of balance, restraint, and our kuleana through fishing traditions.

Grounded in the ʻōlelo noʻeau that encourages mindful harvest—“eat some, salt some”—this event invites our guests to explore Hawaiian perspectives on conservation, sustainability, and the passing down of ʻike across generations.

We also celebrate and mahalo the Explorers of Lawaiʻa exhibit for sharing their space with our community, as this will be the final day to experience the exhibit.

Come visit us on Sunday, April 26!

Grounded in place and guided by ʻike Hawaiʻi, this program creates space for our haumāna to explore, grow, and connect—through science, creativity, and ʻike.

So much aloha to the kumu, staff, and keiki who bring this to life!
