As we welcome our little learners, remember—everything is new to them. ❤️

For some, this may be their first time away from home. Give them time. Teach with patience. Help them make friends and express their feelings.
Most importantly, let every child know:

“You are safe here. You belong here. You matter.”

The academics will come. First, build the community where learning can happen. 🍎

I am honored and humbled to have been recognized with this special award.

For over 27 years, my passion has been serving children, families, and educators. Whether in the classroom, mentoring teachers, leading professional development, or growing the Barney the Pre-K Teacher community, my mission has always been to make a difference—one child and one teacher at a time.

This recognition reminds me that the work we do matters. I give God all the glory for every opportunity He has entrusted to me, and I am grateful to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along this journey.

Academic success is important, but so is a child's emotional well-being. Let's make sure we're asking more than, "How were your grades?" Let's also ask, "How are you feeling?" "Is everything okay?" "How can I support you?"

Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and valued—not just for their performance, but for who they are.

Many of you know me as an educator, but you may not know that during the pandemic in 2020, I started a Facebook group called the Pre-K Teachers Support Group.

Like so many educators, we were navigating an uncertain time. I wanted to create a space where Pre-K and early childhood teachers could come together to ask questions, share ideas, encourage one another, and remind each other that we weren't alone.

Today, that small idea has grown into a community of 86,000 early childhood educators from around the world.

I am incredibly humbled and grateful that God has allowed me to serve such an amazing community. Watching educators support one another, celebrate successes, and overcome challenges together has been one of the greatest blessings of my career.

If you know a Pre-K teacher, preschool teacher, Head Start teacher, child care provider, Transitional Kindergarten teacher, or anyone who works in early childhood education, I'd be honored if you shared this post with them or invited them to join our community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey. Your encouragement has meant more than you know.

BARNEY The Pre-K Teacher, LLC (Established 2024).

For over 27 years, I have worked with children and families throughout New Jersey. I have also had the privilege of teaching future educators as a professor at Montclair State University for the past 9 years.

During the 2020 pandemic, I created the PRE-K TEACHERS SUPPORT GROUP via Facebook. What began as a small support space has now grown to over 83,000 members across the United States and beyond.

Since then, I’ve been blessed with opportunities to provide virtual and in-person workshops, support educators, and continue doing what I love most — helping others grow. 🍎
