It's November, Pinewoods families, and that means it is time for...Giving Tuesday! Tuesday, November 29th is the annual international day of giving to show your support for causes near and dear to your heart and lives.

Happy International Day of Peace! Today, we celebrated peace at Pinewoods Montessori by making peace dove handprint art in our Toddler classes and singing "Light a Candle for Peace" together on the Primary playground. Our car line was decorated with messages and images of peace by our Elementary students.

Today is the 152nd anniversary of the day Dr. Maria Montessori was born! To celebrate, some of our new students had the opportunity to add their handprints to our PEACE mural in our multi-purpose room. We are also celebrating a full week of school, as last Wednesday was our first day together!

It was wonderful to see so many Pinewoods families, friends, graduates, and teachers at the Handmade Parade on Saturday and the Durham Bulls game on Sunday. Extra kudos to everyone who braved the huge downpour at the game. We had a great time with all of you!

At 2:22pm today, on 2/2/22, Upper Elementary was buzzing with excitement! They went together to our playground, worked together to dig a hole, and together buried a time capsule they made for future students to dig up on 3/3/33. Inside, they included their hopes for the future, origami and a bit of string, school supplies (“No one will know what a pencil is in 2033!”), a couple of unused surgical masks, and an expired and unused COVID-19 rapid test. These students are living through an unprecedented time, and they are getting through it - thriving, even - together.
