Every Y Story Matters: Earlier this year, Hillsborough YMCA proudly welcomed Boy Scout Troop 1776 to the Y as scouts worked to complete their swim tests and advance toward earning aquatic-related merit badges.
One scout, Noah Chin, shared that the swim test was one of the most daunting requirements he faced on his journey toward becoming an Eagle Scout. While initially nervous about completing the assessment, Noah noted that the YMCA's welcoming environment helped put him at ease.
He specifically recognized Ed, our Aquatics Director for his patience, encouragement, and openness throughout the process. With that support, Noah successfully completed this important milestone, moving one step closer to achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. His experience serves as a reminder of the YMCA's commitment to helping individuals build confidence, overcome challenges, and reach their goals through a supportive and inclusive community.

Every Y Story Matters: When three-year-old Brody first started swim lessons, getting into the water was a challenge. His mom, Shay, wanted him to become comfortable around water, but the experience felt overwhelming.
Our aquatics team took the time to understand Brody's needs and helped transition him into our Swim Starters Parent & Child program. With Shay by his side and support from our staff, something amazing happened.
For the first time, Brody was excited to participate and even started enjoying being in the water.
Every child learns differently, and every success deserves to be celebrated. We are proud to help children build confidence, develop life-saving skills, and discover what they're capable of. Learn more and share your Y Story here: www.gscymca.org/share-your-y-story/.
