Hello Partnership Families,

This is a reminder that our Parent Engagement Night is tomorrow, October 15. Families only need to attend one of the following sessions:

Session 1: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Session 2: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

During these sessions, I will share important updates regarding curriculum changes, Title I information, and senior-related information. This meeting is for ALL students and families, not just seniors.

Several of these changes will significantly impact student grades, academic performance, and classroom expectations beginning in the second quarter, which starts in just a couple of weeks. It is important that all families are informed and understand what to expect moving forward.

We will begin and end each session promptly, so please plan accordingly.

I look forward to seeing all of our families tomorrow as we continue working together to support student success.

Seniors Omari and JR wearing the parachutes as if they were capes. Lol. During gym class, I wasn't sure if they were trying to be James Brown, Elvis Presley, or Prince while playing volleyball. 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
Regardless, the capes didn't help them win against Rebecca Hackney and I.

Today is National School Custodian Day! 🥳

We’re putting the spotlight on our favorite custodian, Ms. Martha Barahona! Ms. Martha is one the sweetest, most genuine, and most hardworking woman we are fortunate to know. Everyday, she comes in with a smile on her face and a hug so warm it could melt snow 🫂.

If we don’t tell you enough, know that you are VERY appreciated and loved!

Yesterday, several students received donut holes for having good ATTENDANCE, working hard in class, all while getting their Lion Pride Card signatures in each class.

Happy Teacher Assistants Day to our one and only TA....... Ms. Mikel Riggsbee! She goes above and beyond to support staff and students everyday! She is quick to let'em know how it is. We appreciate her hardwork, dedication, and flexibility!!

This morning, I stopped my Ms. Beatty's English II. I had only planned to stay for a few minutes. I ended up staying for about 30 minutes. Ms. Beatty and our SRO Chris Sykes were tag teaming a lesson on the Holocaust. During the lesson, they both gave unbiased views of what happened. SRO Sykes gave his perspective of how people see your skin color and automatically label you as something you are not. Example: N**i.
SRO Sykes has actually been to the location in Germany.
The students were VERY engaged in the lesson, the pictures, etc. Students had a lot of questions!!!

Yesterday, our students and staff rolled up their sleeves and volunteered to help set up for the annual Hog Day in Hillsborough!🐷⛺

And when we say we set up a tent, we’re not talking about a little backyard tent! 😂 This thing was HUGE! But with plenty of teamwork, muscle, laughter, and probably a few people wondering, “Who signed us up for this?” 🤣, we got the job done!

Of course, after all that lifting, pulling, pushing, and “supervising,” everybody suddenly had the same question: “When are we eating?” 😂🍽️

Hard work definitely builds an appetite! We had a great time serving our community, working together, and making some memories along the way. Great job, students and staff! 💪🏾
