🐎 Help us plan Rearing2Read’s 2027 Kentucky Derby Party! 🎩

We’re looking for 4–6 community-minded volunteers to join our Kentucky Derby Party Planning Committee!

Our Derby Party is Rearing2Read’s signature fundraiser, helping support our tuition-free literacy programs for children. 💙

Committee members will help with:
🎟️ Sponsorships & ticket sales
🐎 Silent auction & raffle items
🍽️ Food, drinks & entertainment
🎩 Décor & Derby activities
📣 Promotion & community outreach
🙋 Volunteer coordination
🎉 Event setup & day-of support

No event-planning or fundraising experience is required! We’re looking for enthusiastic people who want to share ideas, make connections, and help make this special event a success.

📅 November 2026 – May 2027
⏰ Approximately 10–12 hours/month, increasing as Derby Day approaches
🤝 Monthly committee meetings
🏇 Derby Day: Saturday, May 1, 2027

We are so excited to celebrate the launch of Rearing2Read’s very first Pen Pal Program! 💌🐴📚

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteer, Cady, and her mom for showing such wonderful initiative and coming up with the idea for this program! Their creativity and dedication helped make this special opportunity possible for our Rearing2Read students.

Rearing2Read’s first summer camp in Maine is in the books! 🐴📚🌲

We were so excited to partner with Impact Horse to bring mini pony, Toast, to Lincolnville for three days of reading, horses, learning, and lots of fun.

A huge thank you to the Perkins family for hosting us, Terry Mitman for sharing a special presentation with our campers, and Fiona Joyal for counseling and helping make the week such a success.

We’re so grateful for everyone who helped make our first Maine camp possible—and we hope it’s the first of many! 💛

WOW… we did it! 🍦💙

Because of this incredible community, our Rearing2Read Ice Cream Fundraiser raised over $5,000, surpassing our fundraising goal! Every scoop enjoyed, raffle ticket purchased, donation made, and smile shared helps us continue providing tuition-free literacy and equine-assisted learning programs for local children.
