After reading Who Sank the Boat?, our friends became little scientists! Using a balance, they tested plastic animals, tinfoil balls, blocks, rocks, and more to find out which items tipped the scale and "sank the boat." Lots of predictions, comparing, and surprises along the way!

When young children make art, the magic isn't in the finished piece. It's in the squish of paint between their fingers, the choice to add just one more color, the bold swirl that suddenly becomes a "dragon," and the pride of saying, "I made this!"

What a wonderful time we had at Plumper Farms for our Great Pumpkin Meet-Up!

🎨💧 Dip, Slide, Press! 💧🎨

This week we explored painting in a whole new way… with water-filled ziplock bags! The kids dipped their squishy bags into the paint, then slid and pressed them across the paper to see what shapes and colors they could make.

It's all in the process: There is no right or wrong way to make art! The fun (and the learning!) happens while they explore, experiment, and discover what their hands can do.

Why it matters: Gripping, dipping, and pressing the bags helps build the small hand muscles children need for holding crayons, using scissors, and eventually writing their names.
