Alejandra is such an incredible woman! Remember her face, she’ll be President one day!

Meet the Intern:
Alejandra; Library Assistant Intern at Astoria Public Library.

We’d like to introduce intern, Alejandra Lopez Nestor. Alejandra is a Warrenton High School graduate and is already incredibly well accomplished. The recent grad has completed several legislative and political internships, participated as a speaker in legislative panel discussions, and served as Co-Executive Director for State of the Students, a youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to bridge the gap between students and elected officials. In addition to her academics, internships, and speaking engagements, Alejandra was also president and founder of the Warrenton High School Multicultural Club and is a part of various civic organizations. Additionally, this summer, she is a Regatta princess in the 2022 Astoria Regatta Court. The Astoria Regatta has been honoring outstanding young women for over 100 years; the members of the Royal Court are chosen for their academic achievements and service to the community and their school.
This is Alejandra’s second internship with ClatsopWORKS, and her favorite part of this summer’s internship is her independent project -creating and organizing strategies for library outreach to and engagement with Latino and Spanish-speaking segments of the community. Her bilingual skills, highly organized mind, and passion for helping the community make her a natural for this project!
Alejandra’s future plans include more legislative speaking engagements -she is passionate about working in government to bring an equity lens to policy. She plans to attend Mount Holyoke College, where students gain a complex understanding of the world through internships, study abroad, community-based learning, and independent research. Alejandra plans to focus her degree around Latino / Hispanic policy & politics, human rights law, and education, and will pursue a Washington D.C. based internship as well as an internship abroad.
Go, Alejandra! !
