Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day. 🧡 Join us in honoring the Indigenous children taken from their families and to affirm that Every Child Matters. Learn more in the post below.

Each year on September 30, Orange Shirt Day is recognized across the U.S. and Canada as a time to remember Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential and boarding schools. Join us in wearing orange next week to say Every Child Matters!

Did you know about different types of play? Learn more below! ☺️👇

Parallel play is more social than it looks.

Two toddlers may be side by side, each focused on their own toys, with barely a word between them. But a lot of learning can be happening. They’re watching, imitating, exploring, communicating. And getting more comfortable sharing space with other children.

For early childhood professionals, these everyday moments can offer a window into a child’s social, language, cognitive and motor development.

And an important reminder: stages of play aren’t rigid deadlines. Children may move between different types of play depending on the activity, setting and people around them.
