Tomorrow is the first day of school, Hilliard! 🎒📚

As you head out in the morning, remember roads may look a little different with school buses, students walking and biking, and more traffic around our schools.

You'll also see an increased presence of police officers in and around school zones as we help everyone get where they need to go safely. 🚓

Drivers:
🚘 Slow down and stay alert in school zones.
🚶‍➡️ Watch for children who may be walking or running to catch a bus.
🚍 Be prepared for children to enter the street from behind a bus.
🚌 Give buses plenty of space and follow all traffic laws when a bus is stopped.

Students & pedestrians:
🚦 Pay attention to traffic signals and crossing guards.
🚸 Use designated crossings and choose a safe route with the fewest street crossings.
⛔ Never cross against a red light, even if you don't see traffic coming.
👕 Wear bright or reflective clothing to help drivers see you.

A new school year means new routines for everyone on the road. Slow down, stay alert and help our students get to and from school safely.

Help us welcome another new staff member, Amy Onifer, our new Gifted Intervention Specialist!

Amy has been an elementary teacher with Hilliard City Schools for more than 20 years. This school year, she is excited to join the Scioto Darby Elementary staff as a part-time Gifted Intervention Specialist. She looks forward to getting to know students, helping them grow, and beginning this new chapter.

In her free time, Amy enjoys traveling, reading outside on a nice day, trying new recipes, and spending time with her family.

We can’t wait to see students and families this afternoon from 4-6pm. As a reminder, all staff will be arriving at school just in time for the event after our safety training ends at Darby. Please do not arrive early and be prepared to possibly wait until a little after 4 for the doors to open!

Help us welcome another new member of our SDE family, Intervention Assistant Montaha Tamayza (Mrs. M!)

Hi! My name is Montaha, and I am so excited to be joining Scioto Darby Elementary as an Intervention Assistant.

I have a degree in Business Administration from Palestine Polytechnic University. I started my experience in education as a substitute teacher at Sunrise Academy, and I have also worked as a substitute with Hilliard City Schools for the past year.

Working with students has become something I truly enjoy. I love being able to support children, help them feel comfortable and confident, and be there for them when they need a little extra encouragement. I am excited to continue learning and growing in this role and to be part of the Scioto Darby community.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and my children, cooking, and making memories together. I am so happy to be starting this new chapter at Scioto Darby, and I can’t wait to meet all the students and families.
