Mark is a fierce advocate for both the diverse student body and the amazing teachers in Hilliard. I am excited to run again for a seat as a member of the Hilliard City School District Board of Education. Being on the Board currently, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue the amazing work we have done and to expand upon the outcomes the District has achieved over the past 4 years. Since
being elected to the Hilliard Schools Board of Education in 2017, I have worked hard to ensure our students are given a variety of opportunities to grow academically, physically, and emotionally; preserve good stewardship of our community tax dollars; and provide transparent communication to our students, parents, and community. As School Board President during the 2020 calendar year, I assisted in leading our district through unprecedented challenges. While we all wish the circumstances were different, I firmly believe we as a school board made the best possible decisions with the information we had. During this time, and throughout my tenure on the Board thus far, I have striven to communicate with our community to provide transparency into our decision-making. Throughout my first four years on the School Board, I have had the pleasure of working on various working committees, including Finance & Compensation, Facilities, Diversity & Equity, Superintendent’s Advisory, Athletics, and Business Advisory. I have also been active as a liaison for the School Board with the Hilliard Education Foundation and with our local governmental partners. These experiences have provided me with an understanding and appreciation of the inner workings of our school district and the ability to make good decisions on behalf of our constituents. I grew up in Hilliard and graduated from the Hilliard City School District. As a parent of two daughters in the school district, I am amazed at the wealth of opportunities that I witness for my children, both in and out of the classroom. With the love of learning that is being instilled and the friendships my girls are making, I am happy my wife and I made the decision to raise our family in the Hilliard School District. Additionally, as the husband to an amazingly dedicated teacher in the district, I have seen how much the teachers that we know from elementary school to high school to the ILC give of themselves to provide the children of this community the skills and knowledge to be their best--not just to be better students, but to be the best versions of themselves that they can be. I believe the Hilliard City School District is second to none, and I want to continue to use my talents to have an influential voice in continuing the great work that the schools are doing.
