Nationals in July are approaching as the pinnacle of the competition season. Now is the time to put in the work for next season! Open competition practices available this summer on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:15pm - 8:30pm. Bring your sparring gear and good mindset ready to train. Students can earn their 2026-27 Team Excellence invites in the fall 👊

What is Golden Tape?

At Excellence Martial Arts, Golden Tape is a special recognition placed on a student’s belt to signify to the student and parents that they are eligible to earn their next rank.

Students earn Golden Tape through a combination of the following:

Time in Belt:
Students require a minimum amount of time between belt ranks. This promotes mastery of the skills in each rank and gives the student enough classes to learn their new techniques.

*Poor class attendance will delay the student in receiving Golden Tape.

Effort & Attitude:
Consistent effort in class, a positive attitude, and respectful behavior toward instructors and peers.

*Bad attitudes, effort, and respect in class will delay the student in receiving Golden Tape.

Understanding of Curriculum:
Demonstrating all required curriculum for their current belt level such as kick techniques, hand techniques, and forms.

*If the student cannot perform their current and previous techniques correctly this will delay the student in receiving Golden Tape.

“Golden Tape Week” is typically the first week of the month, followed by “Test Sheet Week” in which students who received Golden Tape can earn their Belt Test Registration Sheets once the instructors determine they are ready for promotion.

Golden Tape Week: June 1st - 8th

Saturday, June 6: AAU Region 6 Tournament

Test Sheet Week: June 8th - 15th

Nunchuck Class: Wednesday, June 10th 6:30pm - 7:15pm

Instructor Club: Friday, June 12th 4:30pm

Peak Performance Camp in Minnesota with Coach Moreno and World Champion Henrique Marques: Saturday June 13th

Belt Test: Thursday, June 18th (NO CLASSES)

Saturday June 20th: Summer Board Breaking Challenge 12pm
Sparring Camp 1pm - 3pm

Belt Testing schedule for tomorrow (NO CLASSES)
5:15pm - Dragons Test
5:45pm - Basic Test
6:30pm - Intermediate/Advanced Test
7:00pm - Black Belt Test (BRING SPARRING GEAR)

Full white uniform (dobok) is required to test. Arrive on time with belt test registration completed.

May 21st - Color Belt and Black Belt Testing (NO CLASSES)
May 25th - Memorial Day (NO CLASSES)
May 29th - 31st USAT East Regionals
