One room. A whole lot of possibilities. 🌎✨

Our Opportunities Fair brought Chinquapin students and families together with organizations offering experiences that can take learning far beyond the classroom, from summer enrichment and leadership programs to travel, college preparation, and more.

Days like this give our Burrs the chance to explore, ask questions, dream a little bigger, and discover opportunities they may not have known were possible.
A huge thank you to all of the organizations and partners who showed up for our students and families. We are grateful to have you as part of the Chinquapin community! 🌳

This week, we welcomed our newest members into the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society, recognizing students who have distinguished themselves through scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Behind so many of these moments are families, teachers, and a community that has encouraged our students every step of the way.

Congratulations to our newest NHS and NJHS inductees! We are proud of all you have accomplished and even more excited to see who you continue to become. 🌳

Today, we asked our students a simple question: What’s something you appreciate about your teachers at Chinquapin?

Their answers say it best.

To the teachers who challenge, encourage, support, and believe in our students every day, thank you for helping them see just how much they are capable of.

Happy World Teachers’ Day to the people who make Chinquapin feel like Chinquapin. 🌳

From Chinquapin to Taipei 🇹🇼✈️

This summer, Zena spent four weeks in Taiwan through CIEE, studying Mandarin, living with a host family, making pineapple cakes, exploring Taipei, and experiencing life halfway around the world.

Summer can be more than a break. It can be a chance to learn a new language, experience another culture, meet new people, and discover just how far you’re ready to go. 🌏

Where could your summer take you?

Come explore the possibilities at our Opportunities Fair tomorrow, Saturday, October 3! 🌳

Some partnerships don’t just last. They grow roots. 🌳

Last week, our friends at Breakthrough Houston joined members of our 6th grade, leadership, and Admissions teams to talk about students, opportunities, and strengthening the pathway between our communities.

The connection runs deep. From longtime Chinquapin leaders continuing their work at Breakthrough, to Burrs becoming Breakthrough students, Teaching Fellows, and staff, to former Fellows returning to Chinquapin as educators, our communities have been connected for decades.

Students become mentors. Mentors become educators. Educators open doors for the students coming behind them. That’s what it means to be . 🌳

Ready to find your next opportunity? Join us at the Chinquapin Opportunities Fair this Saturday!

What if your summer classroom was London? 🇬🇧🔬

This summer, Estrella traveled to London through BAFTX, where she spent two weeks at the London International Youth Science Forum, exploring STEM, discovery, and innovation.

From exploring Oxford and seeing London from the top of the London Eye to learning from Nobel Laureate Professor John O’Keefe, Estrella’s summer took learning far beyond the classroom.

And yes, there was plenty of time to explore London and make some unforgettable memories along the way!

Where could your summer take you?

Come find out at our Opportunities Fair this Saturday, October 3! Meet organizations offering summer programs, travel experiences, enrichment opportunities, and more.

College looks a little different when you get to see it for yourself. 👀🎓

Our 10th-grade Burrs hit the road yesterday for a day at Texas A&M! From exploring campus to getting a feel for college life, the day was all about seeing what’s out there and starting to imagine what could come next.

College may still feel a few years away, but the exploring starts now!

Next up: our juniors head to Southwestern University on Friday, followed by our Opportunities Fair on Saturday, where Burrs can start exploring where next summer might take them.

Chinquapin alumni - if you're currently at Southwestern, we’re coming your way! 👀 If you’re on campus Friday, come say hello to our current Burrs!

Where did Evy’s summer take her? 🇰🇷✈️ All the way to South Korea!

Through our partner DiscoverU, Evy traveled with The Experiment in International Living for its South Korea: K-Culture & Peacebuilding program. From exploring Seoul and historic sites to learning alongside Korean students on Dochodo Island and spending time with her host family, Evy spent her summer experiencing a new culture and building friendships along the way.

Her advice to other Burrs? Step out of your comfort zone and apply.

So... where could your summer take you?

Join us at the Chinquapin Opportunities Fair this Saturday, October 3 from 10-11:30AM to explore summer programs, travel experiences, enrichment opportunities, and more!
