🛡️ Strong Is Prepared
Legacy Martial Arts and Highlands Ranch Community Association are offering a Women’s Self-Defense Class this Sunday, August 9.
This hands-on class is especially valuable for women and girls entering a new environment, whether they’re starting a new school, heading to college, beginning a new job, moving away from home, or becoming more independent.
Participants will build awareness, confidence, and practical skills for responding to dangerous situations.
We don’t want the women and girls we care about to live in fear. We want them prepared.
Strong is aware.
Strong trusts her instincts.
Strong uses her voice.
Strong is ready to act.
Tag someone who should know about this class, share this post with another family, and register through HRCA:

Determination and resilience sound like the same thing. They’re not. And kids need both.
This cycle at Legacy, we’re talking about the difference.
🥋 Determination: “I’m not quitting.”
💪 Resilience: “That didn’t work. What do I do now?”
Martial arts gives kids a pretty great place to practice both.
A board doesn’t break. A technique isn’t clicking. Something is harder than they expected.
They keep trying.
They mess up.
They figure it out.
And eventually, the thing that’s hard isn’t happening on our mat.
It’s a tough assignment at school. A problem with a friend. Not making the team. Or finding out that you’re not automatically good at everything you try. (A terrible discovery, we know.)
That’s why we teach life skills right alongside martial arts.
Yes, we want our students to know how to defend themselves.
But we also want them to know how to handle hard things.
Determination keeps you going. Resilience gets you back up.
And around here, we practice both.
What does your child need more of right now—determination or resilience?

Rumor has it Mr. Strong is back on the mat today…
He says he’s just excited to see everyone.
We’re pretty sure he’s coming to inspect your side kicks and see if you’ve been working as hard as you told your parents you have. 👀🥋
Either way… we can’t wait to see everyone in class today!!

📚 Why does a martial arts school give homework?
Because we’re not just teaching kicks and punches.
One of my favorite parts of every belt cycle is almost here… our brand-new homework packets are nearly ready!
Every homework assignment is designed to help kids practice the skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives:
⭐ Confidence
🎯 Focus
🤝 Responsibility
❤️ Kindness
💪 Courage
🧠 Good decision-making
The best martial artists aren’t just strong on the mat—they’re strong at home, at school, and in their community.
That’s why our homework isn’t about doing extra push-ups or memorizing techniques. It’s about creating conversations, building habits, and helping parents reinforce the same values we’re teaching in class.
When families and instructors work together, amazing things happen.
We’re excited to share our newest homework packet soon, and we think this might be our best one yet.
❤️ Because our goal has never been to create great martial artists…
It’s to help build strong, focused, confident kids who are ready for life.
👇 What’s one life skill you hope your child develops this year? We’d love to hear it in the comments!
