A HUGE thank you to Cave Dave, his assistant Natalie, Mrs. Ward and all our volunteers for making CaveSim so much fun! Last week, Cave Dave provided hands-on experience about what's its like to crawl through a cave, help with a cave rescue and climb a vertical caving tower. Our kids had a blast (and so did the volunteers!).

Ben Franklin Academy: Full STEAM Ahead!

Ben Franklin Academy (BFA) serves parents interested in a pre-K through eighth grade school with a rigorous academic curriculum and a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), as well as character education. At BFA, our mission is to develop students who are well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged. That’s why we provide daily instruction in core classes--science, math, social studies and language arts--as well as weekly instruction in technology, art, music, physical education and science lab. Middle school students (grades 6-8) also have core classes daily, as well as STEAM lab, Spanish, Physical Education, Life Skills, Technology and electives. Students thrive at BFA because we focus on the success of each individual student through the use of flexible ability grouping and differentiated instruction.

Kids and parents aren’t the only ones who appreciate BFA--with a supportive administration, autonomy in the classroom and small class sizes--our staff and accredited teachers do as well! That’s why we can boast about a 90 percent average retention rate from year-to-year.

We are proud to be the Core Knowledge (not to be confused with Common Core) STEAM School of Choice in Douglas County. To find out more, visit our website at www.bfacademy.org.
