In the Wings Acting
A local coaching program for middle school students and teens. We encourage students to think creatively whether on a stage or in a classroom.
*Helping young people discover and cultivate creative confidence.*
In The Wings is a local acting program taught by a former high school theatre teacher with fifteen years experience working with students on stage. Many of my former students have gone on to successful professional careers as actors/actresses, producers, lighting designers and more in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Many m
I had a coaching session with a 16-yr-old who was unsure of his monologue and didn't think he would like it or that it would be good for his audition. After a 2-hour session, he LOVED the monologue and knew he would rock his audition. I love my job....
I had a wonderful time with 50 acting students today at our Front Range Theatre Company's audition workshop. So much fun; so much talent, so much laughter! These students are some of the cast members for our summer intensive shows: Aladdin, Shrek, Heathers. Can't wait!
Do you know a young person who wants to work on his/her audition skills? Or small groups whowant to improve scene work? I'm waiting for them!
Serious young actors prepare, prepare, prepare! That's what makes them a cut above the average. Here's an example: I am working over the summer break with a DSA sophomore who wants to have five monologues memorized, blocked, and ready to go when school starts in August. We meet about 8 hours per month. She has two comedic monologues in the bag, with three to go over the next four weeks. Now, during the school year, when she's super busy -- but has to have a monologue ready for an acting class or a production audition -- she can pick one of the five we've prepared. Smart thinking, Zoe Howell!!

Great news today for one of my acting students! Alex was accepted into Denver School of the Arts for his freshman year next fall. I am so proud of him and extremely happy for him and his family. This young man DIGS Shakespeare and will wow everyone at DSA!!
I had fun last month working with a thirteen-year-old who wants to be a part of the Shakespeare Festival in Boulder next summer. He has set his sights high! I like that. He got a call-back for a part in Richard III. We are delighted about that....and waiting eagerly to find out if he got the part of young Edward, future king of England.

There are few things that are more satisfying than working with an acting student for two months and watching him gain admission to a school's acting program and being cast in the fall production. So proud of him! This is a good beginning to a high school career.
I am extremely proud of my 8th-grade acting student for having the courage to audition for next year's high school fall production, A Midsummer Night's Dream -- and getting a part! He'll also be understudy for Theseus. He worked diligently with me to be ready for this opportunity. So proud of him!!!
