We are proud of all of our 5th and 6th-grade SME students who participated in Math Olympiad this year!
Since 1979, Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMSⓇ) has been providing challenging and thought-provoking mathematical problems designed to strengthen students’ mathematical skills. Participants in Math Olympiads are located in all fifty states, three US territories and in thirty foreign countries. In all, this year there were 4,179 teams and approximately 70,000 participants around the world!
53 SME 5th and 6th grade students participated in the Math Olympiads program this year under the supervision and coaching of Mrs. Troxell and Mrs. Molé, Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs, Belden
23 SME sixth graders and 12 SME fifth graders of the math olympians won top awards for excellence within Division E, grades 4-6.
3 SME sixth graders and 1 SME fifth grader scored within the top 3-10%, earning a silver pin.
23 SME sixth graders and 12 SME fifth graders scored within the top 11-50%, earning an embroidered patch.
We are excited to announce that we will have a 5th-grade team again next year, thanks to the generous support of our SME PTO, which funds this valuable programming for Stone Mountain!
We are so proud of all of our 5th and 6th-graders who participated this year!

We celebrated the first place 6th grade Hexathalon team with a parade around the school. Congrats to all of our athletes and coaches.
