Favorite Color Day + Math in Action! 📊
Our 2nd graders turned Favorite Color Day into a real-world math project!
Students went around Crescent Light Academy and collected data from students and staff, tallying the colors worn throughout the school. They then organized their data and created a bar graph to determine the most popular color school-wide.
Through this hands-on project-based learning activity, students practiced collecting data, tallying, organizing information, creating graphs, comparing quantities, and interpreting results—all while connecting math to a fun school-wide event!
At CLA, we love creating opportunities for students to see that math is all around us!

We are incredibly grateful that Crescent Light Academy is open and fully operational, welcoming our students back to a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment!

As our school community continues to grow, our Early Childhood classes are nearing full capacity, but we are still accepting enrollment for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade for the 2026–2027 school year.

🚨 EMERGENCY FOOD VOUCHERS AVAILABLE FOR NORTH TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

In response to the recent widespread power outages, North Township Trustee's Office are providing Emergency Food Voucher assistance to eligible residents who have been without power for 72 hours or more.

Residents must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License or ID with a current address. Power outages will be verified with NIPSCO, and an Emergency Application must be completed.

Assistance is provided on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

📍 East Chicago Office: 2100 Broadway St.
📍 Hammond Office: 5947 Hohman Ave.
• Monday - Friday • 9:30am - 4pm

Eligible communities include East Chicago, Griffith, Hammond, Highland, Munster, and Whiting.

⚠️ Please note that our offices are currently without internet and phone service. Applications will be completed manually.

We are proud to share the results of our Spring NWEA MAP Assessment for our Kindergarten and 1st Grade students!

85% of students are reading at or above grade level
100% of students are performing at or above grade level in math

These results reflect the dedication of our students, the commitment of our teachers, and the partnership of our families. Most importantly, they demonstrate the impact of a strong foundation in literacy, mathematics, and character development.
