Yesterday marked one year with Ms. Tammy at Building Blocks!!! 🥳🎉 And we are so grateful she found her way to us. Tammy brings a background unlike anyone else on our team — from supporting families in Labor and Delivery to coaching CrossFit and Special Olympics weightlifting. She has spent her whole life showing up for people in their most important moments, and she brings that same energy into our classrooms every single day.

She is warm, inclusive, and deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach — she truly sees children as capable, curious learners with their own voices. And if you know Ms. Tammy, you already know that.

One year down, and we hope many, many more to come. We love you, Ms. Tammy! 😘🌿🎉

Drop some love in the comments for her!

Some milestones deserve a really big moment. Today is one of them.

Suzanne and her husband Joe purchased a little farmhouse in Highland, MI and turned it into something truly special. She has spent 22 years building a school rooted in nature, relationships, and the belief that every child deserves a childhood full of joy and wonder.

Wendy was already here when Suzanne and Joe walked through the door, and she never left. As our Toddler Lead Teacher, she has spent over two decades watching little ones discover the world for the very first time. She will tell you the wonder of it never gets old. That says everything.

Happy 22nd Anniversary to two women who make Building Blocks what it is. We are so grateful for you both. 🌿🎉

Fred Rogers reminded us that “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. At various times, play is a way to cope with life and to prepare for adulthood. Playing is a way to solve problems and to express feelings. In fact, play is the real work of childhood.”

Research shows that play is how children…
- Share their feelings
- Learn about the world around them
- Build relationships
- Feel a sense of agency and control
- Develop important life skills

Check out this clinical report, which was reaffirmed January 2025, to learn more about the research behind the importance of play: https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/142/3/e20182058/38649/The-Power-of-Play-A-Pediatric-Role-in-Enhancing?autologincheck=redirected

Thank youHuron Valley Community Coalitionon, for spending the morning with our children! 💚

From building calming jars and blowing bubbles to creating custom journals and colorful sand art, the morning was filled with creativity, connection, and joy.

We are so grateful for community partners who show up, invest their time, and remind our children that they are surrounded by people who care about their well-being.

Thank you for being such a wonderful support for our children and our community! 💚✨

Summer isn’t quite over yet! ☀️

Last week brought more of the kind of summer days we love at Building Blocks—time outside, learning, exploring, creating, playing, and enjoying these last few weeks of summer together.

And somehow, we’re already TWO WEEKS away from the first day of school! Our 2026–2027 school year officially begins August 31, and before it does, we’re opening our doors to the community. 🎨🖼️✨

This Wednesday, August 19 from 3:30–5:30 PM, join us for our Open House + Art Show!

Come explore our classrooms and outdoor spaces, meet our teachers, see the children’s work on display, and experience a little of what makes Building Blocks so special.

If you’ve been thinking about Building Blocks for your child, this is the perfect time to come see us before the new school year begins.

Head over to our Facebook Events page to RSVP—and please share the event with a local family who might love Building Blocks, too. 💛
