The HCC Alumni Association is saddened to share the passing of Mark Rounds ’78.

Mark made a lasting impact on every community he was part of, not only as a leader and mentor, but also as a friend. Most recently, he continued to make a difference at Highland Community College through his service on the HCC Board of Trustees.

Mark’s legacy of leadership, service, and friendship will be remembered by many.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Anita, and their family during this difficult time.

HCC Alumni Association is sad to announce the passing of Dan Glynn. Dan spent 37 years as instructor for Highland Community College's English Department and was a Professor Emeriti. Our thoughts are with Dan's wife Mary Lou and their family.

On October 3, the HCC Alumni Association celebrated the Class of 1976 during HCC Homecoming! 🎉

The day began with a meet and greet in Yost Gallery, followed by a campus tour. Classmates then enjoyed lunch at Kirkwood Table & Tap before joining fellow alumni for the President’s Reception in the Barber Room.

We’re grateful to everyone who returned to campus to reconnect, celebrate their Scottie memories and help keep the HCC tradition alive. Thank you for being part of our past and inspiring our future! 💙💛

Join us on October 17th to honor the 2026 recipients of the HCC Alumni Association Awards. Recipients will be recognized at the halftime of the Scottie football game vs Ellsworth CC - Kick-off at 1:00!

We are pleased to announce the newest scholarship established through the HCC Foundation, the Glenna Batchelder Memorial scholarship, created by Amy Batchelder Handlin and Chi Chi Zimmerman.

Glenna Batchelder was a beloved HCC teacher, Coach, community member and friend who started the HCC Volleyball program in 1975. Her impact on Highland and its students continues through this scholarship.

Pictured with Amy Batchelder Handlin and Chi Chi Zimmerman is Emma Hyde of Auburn, Nebraska, an HCC volleyball player and the first recipient of the Glenna Batchelder Memorial Scholarship.

We are grateful to Amy and Chi Chi for honoring Glenna’s legacy and supporting the next generation of Scottie volleyball players!
