We’re participating at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library in this challenge put together by the TAG Marlboro Central School District to encourage little readers while supporting our local library!

📚 Did ya know, children who are read to regularly are exposed to 78% more vocabulary than children who aren’t read to regularly?!?!

Many Mid-Hudson Valley libraries offer similar challenges! Go and check out your local library and get reading! ❤️

Another camp season in the books ☀️

🌲 The woods are one of our favorite classrooms at Lost Skills Camp! 🧭

We've explored how animals use camouflage to blend into their environment, training our eyes to slow down, look closely, and notice what might otherwise go unseen. We put those observation skills to work while birdwatching too: listening for calls, searching the trees, and discovering just how much wildlife surrounds us when we take the time to notice. 🐦🍃🔍

Learning to observe, understand, and connect with the natural world, another skill worth keeping alive. 🤎

🎯 Day 1 of Lost Skills Camp!

Our first go on the archery range! Learning all things safety, understanding the self-control and respect it takes, and all the auditory commands and cues of the range before taking aim! 🏹

✏️🍎 That’s a wrap on Primary Prep Camp! 🎒✨

A week filled with learning, growing, playing, and building confidence! Our little learners practiced letters, numbers, name writing and recognition, fine motor skills, following directions, making friends, and trying new things.

We also practiced some of the BIG skills that come with starting school: patience and waiting our turn, transitioning from one activity to the next, listening and following multi-step directions, learning how to win and lose, respecting personal space, asking for help, becoming more independent, and navigating snack and lunchtime with some expert tips and tricks! 🥪🍎

Most importantly, we focused on building the foundational skills children need to feel confident, capable, and ready for their next big adventure whether its’s Pre-K, Kindergarten, and beyond! 🌟

This week was all about helping our littlest campers gain confidence for the upcoming school year! ✏️

We accomplished that through activities that involved name tracing, counting, building, shoe lace tying, and fine motor skills. The week was ended with a cup of Jitter Juice to cast away the jitters!🧃
