Myrna Leigh Cohn, Artist and Raconteur

Myrna Leigh Cohn, Artist and Raconteur A place to wander, maybe linger, perhaps to share.... You name it, and somewhere in my work, you will find it.

Myrna Leigh Cohn, Artist & Raconteur, reflects my sense of myself as a coach, facilitator, visual artist and writer. I share my process and everything that contributes to this evolution; i.e., quotes, poems, paintings, my blog, videos, comments, emotions, longings, dreams and daily activities.

Looking out the third story window, I face a view very different than what I used to see when living in Door County (although the weather has been almost identical all winter). It seems to me, we always had the final snow storm in early April! Today,March 30th, is a dreary, cold (42 degrees) rainy day...no snow, but the day isn't over yet.
What's happening where you are???

"Cohn’s work already in the exhibit is contemporary, with non-objective use of space, color, texture and compositional elements. The energy of paint strokes and use of fluid color combine with personal feelings and emotions to bring the energy of life experiences to her abstract expressionist pieces."

“When you get into your car, shut the door and be there for just half a minute. Breathe, feel the energy inside your body, look around at the sky, the trees. The mind might tell you, 'I don't have time.' But that's the mind talking to you. Even the busiest person has time for 30 seconds of space.” - Eckhart Tolle

"Nobody is going to save you from your own mind. Nobody can get into the heart of your experience and fix anything for you. If you want to make your own internal experience more hospitable, only you can do that work. Others can always support and guide you and spark insights, but ultimately you are your own boss and the agent of understanding your mind and opening your heart." - Ethan Nichtern, "Awake with Others"

The Space in the Mind | May 2, 2015

Most of our suffering comes from habitual thinking. If we try to stop it out of aversion to thinking, we can’t; we just go on and on and on. So the important thing is not to get rid of thought, but to understand it. And we do this by concentrating on the space in the mind, rather than on the thought.

- Ajahn Sumedho, "Noticing Space"

words of wisdom from a wise man...

Eckhart discusses joyful activism -- an underlying peace within while you work for change. You cannot solve the evils of the world on the same level of consciousness that created them.

"The most brilliant scientific discoveries will in time change and perhaps grow obsolete as new scientific manifestations emerge.
But art is eternal, for it reveals the inner landscape,
which is the soul of man." - Martha Graham
