The RRRS was formed in association with The Helping Friendly Book Club (@hfbclub) as part of an Independent Study doing research into the psycho-mechanics of creativity. The RRRS is an outgrowth of that Independent Study which set out to answer, “Under what conditions do we have our best ideas? Where does inspiration come from? How do we consciously generate insights?”

Our working hypothesis is that the best way to generate insights is by sharing our favorite literary nectar and cross-pollinating our most potent ideas with each other. Insights don’t lend themselves to predictability or force, so the best way to encourage them to happen is to create a conducive environment, with ideal ‘insight generating’ conditions, and then allow them to occur naturally. Our studies show that it seems to be when we are involved in some sort of dialogue that spontaneous flashes of insight come, all of a sudden, like lightning. (The froth is in the confluence, if you will.) By isolating and hyper-focusing on the specific moment when a “new” insight (#phorph) enters the mind (or #hivemind), our aim is to raise awareness of where and how these ‘honeyed’ thoughts emerge. As we grow our awareness of the nature of these moments, our hope is that we can learn how to encourage them to occur more often.
