Passing along from an HP neighbor about our beloved Mrs. Marshall's house; for those who don't know Mrs. Marshall was an amazing HPHS Math teacher and active member of the public schools and HP community. Feel free to copy/paste the details below to help get the word out to help Mrs. Marshall.
If you'd like to make a donation please venmo -Theivakumaran (see comments for account; last 4 digits of phone are 2870 for verification) and we will buy her gift cards & deliver to HP; she wears a size L to XL if you'd like to donate any winter clothes. Please see message below from her neighbor Mason Resnick; we'll be doing an HP drop off later this week.
Dear Highland Park friends and neighbors,
I am posting this with the permission of my neighbor, Diane Marshall:
Early today, Diane, who many of you know as a former teacher in the Highland Park Public Schools, lost her home and nearly all of her possessions to a major fire. The house is still standing, but pretty much everything inside was ruined by the fire and smoke and water damage.
Fortunately, Diane was (and still is) out of the country, so she's OK. Her house-sitter and her dog were in the house when the fire started at 3:00 this morning, and escaped unharmed. My daughter will be taking care of the dog for now. Diane will not be returning until January 1. Her daughter is managing the cleanup and work on the house, but in the meantime Diane has no winter clothes for when she returns.
I am collecting winter clothing for Diane. When she returns she will need a winter coat, sweaters, caps, scarves, and shirts. I believe she is has sufficient pants for now. I am sure toiletries and other basics would also be appreciated, but she specifically mentioned winter clothes when I spoke with her this morning.
Please DM me if you can contribute and I will provide you with size information and drop-off location.
Thank you so much for your help,
Mason [Mrs. Marshall's neighbor]
PS I'll post in this thread if there are any updates and/or when we have enough items.
