Apparently we’re making this a friendship series… and we’re not mad about it. 🥹🩷

Another friendship moment at Access S2C—this time, our littlest friend walked in, saw her buddy on the couch, and went right over to sit beside him.

There’s something so special about watching connections happen naturally. No matter the age difference, friendship can be as simple as feeling comfortable with someone and wanting to be near them.

We’ll never get tired of these moments. 💙✨

It’s the simplest things. 🍦🩷

For so many nonspeakers, parents have spent years having to guess what they want. And when speech is unreliable, the same answer may come out every time—even when it isn’t actually what they want.

Something as simple as choosing your own ice cream flavor can be taken for granted.

Now, with his letterboard, he can tell them exactly what he wants.

A simple choice that means so much. This is access to communication. ✨

Sometimes friendship starts simply by passing each other before and after spelling sessions. 💙

Over time, Lamar and Noah realized they had some of the same interests—and a friendship started to grow.

This is such an important part of what we hope to create for our spellers: opportunities to connect with people who share their interests, understand them, and become genuine friends.

Those big smiles say it all. 🥹✨

Yesterday, Noah shared an important insight about his communication. He reiterated that when he uses speech and says, “I need help, please,” what he is really trying to communicate is that he is ready to answer the question and would like the keyboard placed in front of him.

When asked how we could better support him in those moments, Noah responded, “Stop me when I’m saying it and say, ‘Can I have the keyboard, please?’” As soon as he typed this, his excitement was unmistakable. The joy and pride on his face during and after communicating this message are clearly reflected in the photos.

This is self-advocacy—one of the most meaningful and powerful outcomes of open communication. Noah identified what he needed, explained how others can better understand him, and advocated for a support that allows his voice to be heard. ✨

Our 2nd Annual Access S2C Pool Party was a blast! ☀️🩷

So many smiles, laughter, friendships, and unforgettable memories. It was so special to see our spellers and families enjoying the day together.

A huge thank you to the Highland Heights Pool for welcoming us again this year and helping make this event so much fun. We’re already looking forward to next summer! 🏊‍♂️🌊 ✨
