Highgate Elementary School

As we prepare for our Veterans Day Assembly, we would love to celebrate the veterans and active-duty service members who are part of our Highgate family! We are creating a slideshow featuring family and community members who have served or are currently serving in the military.

If you have a family member you would like us to include, please send us a photo along with their name, branch of service, and their connection to a Highgate student or staff member (for example: Sgt. Hawk— Marines — Father of Johnny Hawker).

Photos may be sent to school with your child or emailed to [email protected].

Thank you for helping us honor the service and sacrifice of the members of our Highgate community! 🇺🇸

In Memory of Phyllis Lasnier

Our library gratefully received donations in memory of Phyllis Lasnier, a beloved retired teacher at Highgate School. After her retirement, Phyllis continued to share her love of learning and children by volunteering in our school library.

In honor of her generosity and lasting connection to our school community, these donations were used to purchase new books for the library’s craft section.

We are grateful for the opportunity to keep Phyllis’s love of children, books, and learning alive in our library.

We were incredibly excited to welcome U.S. Representative Becca Balint and Vermont Secretary of State Copeland Hanzas to Highgate Elementary as part of our Kid Governor program!

Our students led the conversation, asking thoughtful questions about what their jobs look like on a daily and weekly basis, sharing their Kid Governor platforms and community concerns, and even swapping recommendations about what books everyone is reading!

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with state and federal leaders, practice civic engagement, and see that their voices truly matter.

What a great visit—and what a proud moment for our Highgate Hawks!
