There will be an Orientation meeting held in the Oak View Baptist Church sanctuary at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 10th, for registered families to learn helpful information about the upcoming semester.

The fall semester orientation meeting is a required event for families attending LIFE Classes.

Afterwards, parents may walk their students’ schedules with them, locate classrooms and speak with advisors.

SOCIAL - We'll have a fun, cool treat & time to visit together at the conclusion!!

LIFE Class Spotlight: 9-12 Board Games with Nicole Watson

This class explores the full spectrum of board game experiences, from collaborative challenges (Forbidden Island), to cutthroat competition, as well as strategic and logic games. In this hands-on course, students will explore a variety of modern board games to develop crucial strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. By playing titles like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and Dominion, students will learn core game mechanics such as resource management, spatial awareness, and set collection. Students will learn to analyze different strategic approaches, understand game theory, and improve decision-making under pressure. Students will engage in cooperative games to learn teamwork and problem-solving, and then shift to competitive games like Catan to learn strategy and resource management. The course emphasizes good sportsmanship and communication in both competitive and cooperative environments.

Skills Developed: Critical thinking, logical reasoning, strategic planning, probability, negotiation, and decision-making

02:00 PM - 03:30 PM with Daphne Sawyer

Who doesn't love things in miniature? Even ordinary things are delightfully sweet when paired down to a miniature version and it can be very satisfying to make them yourself! Join us as we make some memories and have some fun making adorably delightful and charming clay creations!

We will be doing different projects than the Spring 2026 class and this class is designed for older students, grades 6th-8th.
