The Wesley Mission Hospital is about one mile from the main school, open 24/7, and staffed by 5 doctors and 6 nurse/midwives. The hospital also operates an ambulance for local transport and inter-facility transfers for specialized treatment. For many, Wesley Mission is the only facility able to provide quality healthcare. Visitors are often surprised to see X-ray, laboratory, pharmacy and neonatal care capabilities at our facility.

Next up is Squatters Hill Pre School!

Squatters Hill Pre School provides meals and education to 3-5 year olds is the Squatters Hill area. School is in session Monday through Saturday, offering two meals during the school day. The meals also feed additional children in the slum who don't have the ability to attend school. Students learn english and math, and many move on to attend the Roberts Education Centre once they are old enough.

Breaking News!
Big day at Betty Mavity Roberts Ed Centre! We now have solar power funded by our generous donors at our Giving Hope Benefit Dinner in September. Thanks to you we are able to divert money previously spent on power to other student needs especially food!

Day 9: 5/27

We wrapped up our work week with a medical camp in Squatters Hill at Squatters Hill Academy. People came in from the neighborhood and received necessary medications, met with the doctor, and received foot and hand care.

Thanks to the staff at Wesley Mission Hospital for doing this and providing much needed medical care to those in the area!

Between these two days we painted, held more team building workshops, worked with the kids, finished up the hearing tests, and maybe even enjoyed an evening game of volleyball (or four!)

Yesterday we also had a chance to visit Squatters Hill and Squatters Hill Academy for their lunch break. After all of the kids at Squatters Hill are fed, the gates are opened for the community kids to come and get lunch as well!
