High Point University Department of Political Science

Students choose to study politics because they want to make a difference in the world.
The political science program at High Point University thus centers on the development of strong technical skills and an advanced understanding of political behavior and its consequences for many of the most important issues that shape our lives and the world. The High Point University Department of Political Science offers a variety of challenging and stimulating courses to develop the skills and
advanced understanding necessary for continuing political studies in the future. Students can fulfill a major or minor in Political Science as well as a major or minor in International Relations. Most of our majors and minors complement their formal coursework and in-class simulations with hands-on experience gained from internships, working for the university's Survey Research Center, or becoming deeply involved in one or more of the many university clubs and activities that focus on political issues. High Point University's Department of Political Science offers several opportunities for students to get involved and experience political science outside the classroom. These student-run organizations do everything from taking students to national political conventions to hosting political activists for campus wide events and forums. Such organizations include:
-Politics Club
-College Republicans
-College Democrats
-Amnesty International
-Model United Nations
-Pre-law club
