Shoutout to our National Junior Honor Society members who volunteered at the concession stand for the Southwest Guilford High School soccer game. Members will also assist with setting up and organizing the Senior Night activities.

Hello Southwest Family,

This is your proud principal, Dr. Richmond, calling with your news for the week of October 11.

At the Ranch

-The Math counts Team will meet Monday morning, Go Far on Tuesday and Thursday, Battle of the Books will meet Tuesday and Thursday, and Model UN on Wednesday morning.

-On Monday, 8th grade students will take a rescheduled math NWEA assessment.

-Please help us seeing my email that was sent to parents on Saturday. Any student caught trying to “pants” another student will face an automatic consequence of a 2-day out of school suspension.

-Our PTSA is raffling off 2 premium North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming tickets complete with tailgating access and game passes. You can enter the raffle for only $25. Please see the attached flyer to enter. Remember, all proceeds from PTSA activities go right back to our students.

-On Wednesday at 4:30pm, I would like to welcome any non-GCS students and families who should be at Southwest to come in to hear about our school community. There is a flyer attached to RSVP, please share it with them.

-Please remember that instruction for SWMS starts at 8:25am. Students not in school by then will be counted tardy. Tardies do not look good when high school programs are looking at applications.

-Please make sure you are checking Class Dojo for important classroom information.

Athletics

-Congratulations to those that made the girls’ soccer and boys’ volleyball teams. You will be added to the Athletics Class Dojo so that you can receive updates in real-time.

-Boys’ volleyball and girls’ soccer will have their first competition on Monday at home against Allen MS. They will have another home competition on Thursday against Kernodle MS.

-Football and cheer have a BYE week, so no competition is scheduled for this week.

|Southwest Moment| Not only did our boys soccer team win the conference championship, not only did Coach Yochim and the parents celebrate kids, but Coach Yochim, the parents, and the team created a family culture! Friday night was a celebration of family, sports, and most of all kids! Thank you Coach!
