Congrats Shaniya!!!
Earlier this month, former Johnson C. Smith University women’s basketball guard Shaniya Jones signed her first professional basketball contract.
Jones has signed a professional contract with Brod na Savi of the European Premijer Liga. The team is located in Croatia.
Jones, from High Point, North Carolina played two seasons at JCSU, helping the Golden Bulls to a combined 28-26 record, and a final four tournament appearance.
During her senior season, Jones averaged 16.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game and was a two-time First Team All-CIAA selection in her senior and junior season. She led the CIAA in scoring.
“Shanyia is the prime example for hard work, determination, and toughness,” said interim women’s basketball head coach Dante Travis. “The JCSU women’s basketball family is excited for Shanyia, and this is a wonderful opportunity for her to continue to open doors for this team.”
Before JCSU, Jones transferred from the University of Georgia, in the SEC, played in 20 games, averaged 4.9 points, 1.2 rebounds per game.
Jones prepped at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina, where she helped her team win the state title in her senior season. She was a McDonald’s All-America nominee and two-time all-state selection during her high school career.

Congrats Drew Greene!!!
As a 7th grader Drew told his parents he was going to play college basketball. Since that day he’s not only dreamed about it he has worked as hard as any Wesleyan basketball player to achieve that dream.
“Don’t ask if your dreams are crazy, ask if they are crazy enough.”
Drew’s story of Faith, Perseverance, and Hard Work is one we will have him share over and over with our players and campers in the future.
For now we’re looking forward to seeing him back on the court at UVA-Wise. @ Wesleyan Christian Academy
