The Philosophy major is housed in the Department of Religion and Philosophy that offers both major and minor programs in Philosophy and Religion.
Through these programs, the department seeks to provide inquiry into the ideas, beliefs and values that have shaped human history. Steeped in the liberal arts and consistent with the mission of the University, departmental programs offer opportunity for students to engage in critical thinking while cultivating the growth and development of the whole person.

This academic year, we’ve been thrilled to work alongside Dr. Anna Marsh, our department’s newest faculty member who joined us last fall. She teaches courses in Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies and directs our interdisciplinary Jewish Studies Minor.
You guys, Dr. Marsh’s BOOK *Food, Gender and Power in the Book of Samuel* is coming THIS FALL through Brill Academic Press!!!!🎉 (What super cool research areas!!)
She earned her PhD in 2022 from the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC and taught at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN for three years before moving to NC last summer with her husband (also a biblical scholar), young daughter (5), and old dog. She enjoys pub trivia, cooking, gardening, and good ole TV.
Dr. Marsh is a star and we’re lucky duckies to have her!! 🌟
