Hi, Art and Graphic Design students!

Are you in or around High Point next Thursday or Friday (June 11 and 12)? Do you want to make a cameo in the School of Arts and Design’s new studio safety videos?

We’re looking for a few student volunteers to help demonstrate everyday studio activities in our art, design, photography, and fabrication spaces. No acting required; just show up and do what you normally do!

Help make future students safer (and maybe achieve minor SoAD celebrity status in the process...)!

We loved seeing our design students excel in Japan as they wrapped up their “Auspicious Environments” class! 🇯🇵

The course is an exploration of the real and virtual worlds of Japanese fashion and design, in contrast to American style. Students learn lifelong skills as they collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to examine the nexus between the two disciplines. This course includes a culminating creative team expression in the third discipline of Visual Merchandising Design (VMD). Students investigated the key Japanese design influences in apparel, architecture, interiors and products, and drew comparisons between eastern and western approaches and aesthetics whilst building a bridge between simulated and physical realms.

From the medieval heart of Siena to the global stage of the Venice Biennale, HPU students spent the first few weeks of May exploring Italy through sketching, art history, and immersive cultural experiences as part of ‘The Grand Tour of Italy’ global experience program. Florence, Venice, and Rome offered unforgettable encounters with iconic masterpieces, contemporary art, and the historical spaces that continue to shape creative practice today.

“Throughout my time in the IDFFM program, I have developed a strong foundation in both conceptual design and technical drawings. I am deeply thankful to my professors in High Point University’s Interior Design program for their guidance, mentorship, and continuous support. As I begin my professional career, I am exploring residential design firms in the New York metropolitan area, where I can continue refining my skills and contributing to thoughtfully crafted living environments.”
