East will be conducting a lockdown drill on Thursday, August 27th, during the morning hours.

This is a scheduled safety drill — there is no emergency or threat to our school community.

During the drill, students and staff will practice the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) Lockdown response: Locks, Lights, Out of Sight.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and school community are among our highest priorities. We are deeply committed to creating a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment where everyone can learn and work with confidence.

Regular safety drills are an important part of that commitment. They allow us to practice established procedures, strengthen our preparedness, and ensure that our staff and students know how to respond calmly and appropriately should a real emergency ever occur.

* Schedule Change:

The scrimmage game at Northview will start at 5:15pm today NOT 4:15pm. Student athletes will still meet after school to depart for Northview. Good luck to our Falcon Football Team.

Welcome back, Falcons! What a joy it was to have our new and returning students in the building. While we didn’t capture many photos of the students, we are deeply grateful for our community partnerships. Special visitors included ACS Superintendent Dr. Griffin, ACS PIO Mrs. Eckard, School Board members Mr. McClain and Mr. Oxentine, Sheriff Pennell, and Michelle Hartness of Hartness Hometown Properties.

We continue to ask for grace with our bus routes as riders are added daily and drivers familiarize themselves with their routes. We also encourage you to utilize the “Here Comes the Bus” app for real-time updates. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

I'm Arrin Conklin, the new custodian split between Stony Point and East. I'm married to McKay and we have one son, Everett. Looking forward to a great year!

We are grateful for our partnership with the Alexander County Sheriff's Office and our very own Officer Dison, who keeps our school safe and maintains a positive presence by building relationships within our community. And, who doesn't love carrots and ranch?

What a great day to be a Falcon! Between this morning’s Nest Fest and this evening’s Open House, it has been wonderful seeing our returning students and welcoming new families to our community.

A quick reminder of our schedule for the upcoming school year: The first day of school is Monday, August 24. Doors open at 7:10, the day begins at 7:35, and the school day concludes at 2:35.

We are looking forward to an incredible 2026-2027 school year! In the meantime, please feel free to reach out if you need anything.

Time-Sensitive Reminders:

Tomorrow morning, we welcome our rising 6th graders to Nest Fest from 8:00-12:00. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off their students. Please enter through the bus parking lot (look for signs) and drop off students at the gym entrance under the awning. If you choose to stay, please park in the bus lot.

We will provide students with snow cones and lunch, while parents have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Swanson and Mrs. Cook to discuss general information and answer questions. Bus information for rising 6th graders will also be available in the gym during this time.

Rising 6th graders unable to attend Nest Fest, as well as all 7th and 8th graders, are welcome to attend Open House from 6:00-7:30. Upon arrival, please enter through the gym (the same entrance as last year). Once inside, visit the grade-specific tables to pick up schedules and the transportation table for bus information before touring the school.
