Did You Know…

Childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death from disease among children under age 15 in the United States. Every school day, approximately 46 children are diagnosed with cancer—that’s the equivalent of two entire classrooms of children.

Tragically, approximately 4,000 children die from cancer each year—that’s about 11 children every day.

The gold ribbon is the official symbol of childhood cancer awareness. Wear gold to show your support and shine a light on the children whose strength and courage inspire us every day. Stand with us for children and families facing childhood cancer.

The most common types of childhood cancers are leukemia, brain tumors, lymphoma, and bone tumors. If you notice anything unusual in your child’s health—such as easy bruising, frequent headaches, or unusual bleeding, consult your doctor right away. Early detection can make a world of difference, and it could save their life. The goal of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is to shine a light on the cancers that primarily affect children.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize the devastating impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on families. The days suddenly become filled with confusion, frustration, anxiety, and pain as families navigate this difficult journey.

No parent should ever have to bury a child, let alone watch them suffer through the agonizing pain of cancer. At The Sarah Grace Foundation, we strive to ease that pain by offering comfort and support to children and their families—because we’ve walked that path, and we understand their pain. Grief is a life long process.
