We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Evaline Tanzie, a rising junior at University Christian High School, for her acceptance into the esteemed North Carolina Governor’s School. Out of over 1,700 nominees, Evaline distinguished herself as an exemplary representative of the qualities sought in NCGS participants.
Evaline has been selected for the Choral Music course of study. She expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m most looking forward to deepening my love and knowledge for music with students who share similar musical interests and goals in a fun learning environment. I hope to grow my voice, enhance my sight-reading skills, and train my ear further.”
Evaline is an honor roll student and serves as the Student Council Junior Class Representative. She holds officer positions in the Multicultural Club and the Music Club, is a cross-country athlete, and participates in numerous other extracurricular activities. Additionally, she sings with the Lenoir Rhyne Youth Chorus and has taken on many acting roles in local community theatre productions.
Evaline is also a dedicated member and leader in her church youth group, actively volunteering at Centro Latino, Hickory Soup Kitchen, and the JR Bakers Dozen for the Corner Table. Her future aspirations include majoring in English while continuing her music studies in college choral ensembles, eventually pursuing graduate school. She is the daughter of Chris and Susan Tanzie.
