🎉 Help us give a warm Mountain View welcome to our newest 2nd grade teacher, McKenzie Anderson!

McKenzie grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is entering her fourth year in education after teaching one year of preschool and the past two years in fourth grade.

Outside the classroom, McKenzie enjoys hiking, reading, walking her two Standard Poodles, Shamrock and Lady, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and spending time with her family.

She is excited to begin this new adventure at Mountain View Elementary and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with her students and their families. She can’t wait for a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, and fun!

🏫 Mountain View Elementary Open House 📚

We can’t wait to welcome our students and families back for another amazing school year!

Thursday, August 20, 2026

To better accommodate our families, we’ll offer two Open House sessions:
🕞 3:30 PM
🕔 5:00 PM

You do not need to attend both sessions. However, if you have multiple children at Mountain View, having two session times may make it easier to visit each child’s classroom and meet with their teacher.

Grades 1–6: Families are welcome to attend either session to meet their child’s teacher, see the classroom, and receive important information about the upcoming school year.

Kindergarten Families: Kindergarten parents will meet with their child’s teacher during Staggered Start in a smaller group setting to receive important information about the upcoming school year. More details about Staggered Start will be shared soon.

🚌 Bus Information: Please stop by the library before or after your Open House session to receive transportation and bus route information.

📧 Homeroom teacher assignments will be available through ParentSquare on Wednesday, August 12.

📚✨ A friendly reminder for our Mountain View families and community members! ✨📚

Our Little Free Library in front of the school is overflowing with books and ready for visitors! It is filled with something for everyone, board books and picture books to chapter books, workbooks, and coloring books. There are plenty of choices for readers of all ages!

We typically encourage our “take one, leave one” tradition, but right now our library is completely full! Feel free to stop by, find a book (or a few!) to enjoy, and help us make room for even more readers to share their favorites.
