Let's remember Vince's family when we pray.
Lenoir-Rhyne University experienced a tragedy yesterday, May 12. A freshman student, Vince Njoku, drowned in Lake Hickory while at a swimming event with friends. Vince, 19, a computer science major from Woodstock, GA was a member of the Bears football team.
"We all lost a loved teammate, friend, and son. Vince will be gravely missed within our football program and campus community. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with the Njoku family,” said football coach Ian Shields.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family of the deceased. We ask that you keep Vince's family and friends in your prayers in this trying time.
The Office of Student Life along with on and off-campus partners will be providing counseling and support for any students, faculty, or staff that may need assistance during this time. Anyone may walk in to the Cornerstone Center for assistance at any time in the next few days between 8am and 5pm or by appointment, if needed.
A Service of Remembrance is being planned for Thursday, May 15 at 1:00pm in the Belk Centrum on campus. Additional details will follow.

One of our Senior Fellows (who, by the way, all graduate this Friday at 8 PM--you're invited!) made the news because of her charity work! Check it out.
Go, Quinn--we're proud of you!
A graduating senior at Lenoir-Rhyne University plans on using remaining meal credit to feed more than 100 homeless people in the Hickory area Tuesday.
Quinn Scarvey asked the school's permission to use the remaining credit to feed the hungry. Read more here: http://bit.ly/1jU2U40

Our Senior Fellows graduate a week from today!
7 more days until Graduation!
Is there a better way to de-stress during finals than the Final Flip? Just 154 days ago we celebrated the Fall semester Exam Cram Breakfast by singing, dancing, having a great time with friends, and creating amazing pancake dinner plates!
This year’s Final Flip is Tonight at 7:00 PM in the Cromer Center! We know that the LR Campus Activities Board has planned out a great night, so we’ll see you there!
We are so proud of all of the senior Fellows who presented their Longitudinal Research Projects yesterday. Congrats on the prospect of graduation and on all your hard work!
REMINDERS
All Fellows, be sure to email Scotti about our last social for this year--you should have received an email from her about it.
Senior Fellows, Dr. Matthews has asked us to email our parents' addresses to Scotti so that they may be invited to our Senior Research Presentations in April.

Good news!
For years the NC Teaching Fellows program has been a huge part of Lenoir-Rhyne University. When the state cut funding to it, we decided that we would still stand for our state’s educators.
We’re proud to have formed the LR Teaching Scholars program. With scholarships, and placement in area schools upon graduation, we can't wait to see the incredible teachers that come through our program.
