Experienced Lobbyist wanted for Raleigh-based non-profit representing retired educators. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the day to day lobbying and advocacy activities of the organization as it relates to
legislative affairs. Candidates with a background or experience in public education preferred.
Primary Responsibilities/Activities
Responsible for educating and advocating on behalf of the organization at the North Carolina General Assembly
Build and maintain relationships with key legislative leadership as well as the State Treasurer and Office of the Governor, and others
Arrange meetings between organization leaders and legislators
Advise on implementation of legislative plan and strategies that further the goals and mission of the organization
Monitor bills and state policies of relevance to NCRSP and provide written updates and analysis
Work collaboratively and proactively with stakeholder organizations on legislative matters pertaining to retirees and other items of interest.
Represent and advocate for the organization with industry coalitions, trade associations
Develops lobby and education materials, including but not limited to fact sheets, letters and action alerts.

Even after retiring CCRSP continues to work for PUBLIC ED.
On Monday afternoons, October 5th and 12th, I met with the Catawba County Education Association candidate interview committee as a representative of the Catawba County RSP. After interviewing and deliberating on the 5 candidates who had responded to the request to interview, we decided to endorse the following candidates for the Catawba County Board of Education: Gavin Gabriel, Jeff Taylor, and Michael Wyant.
