A One-Room Schoolhouse

A One-Room Schoolhouse A homeschool, hybrid academy with a focus on faith, knowledge and character. Family members are also required to volunteer in the classroom on a regular basis.

A One-Room Schoolhouse is a homeschool support organization that offers in-person instruction for homeschooling children ages K-12. Students meet with professional teachers and peers three days per week, and parents provide the remaining instruction at home. The schoolhouse supports Christian values, habit formation, time in nature and personalized academic support. We currently have three locatio

ns: our main K-12 campus in Hickory, PA and two K-8 campuses in Franklin Park, PA and Washington, PA. The schoolhouse also offers consulting services, curriculum recommendations and end-of-year portfolio evaluations for homeschooling families not currently enrolled in our program. One of the things we believe most strongly at A One-Room Schoolhouse is simple:

Children learn best when they are deeply known.

Not just their reading level.

Not just their math level.

Not just whether they turned in their assignment.

We want to know what makes them light up.

What frustrates them.

Where they need support.

Where they are ready for more responsibility.

What they are becoming.

Our teachers guide academic growth, but they also build executive function, life skills, character, responsibility, and independence.

Because our goal isn't simply a child who can complete a worksheet.

Our goal is a capable, grounded, purpose-driven young person.

That's the heart of A One-Room Schoolhouse.

And that's why we call ourselves a Schoolhouse, not simply a school.

What if school wasn't about moving every child through the exact same material at the exact same pace?
