**Making Reading Fun at HCA**

HCA 4th graders had a SWEET time celebrating Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Day!

As part of their 4th grade reading curriculum, students dive into Roald Dahl’s classic story, and what better way to bring the book to life than with a W***y Wonk inspired experience right here on campus.

It was a day filled with chocolate, creativity, and plenty of sweet memories!

Reading + imagination + a little chocolate = one SWEET day at HCA! 🍭🍬🍫

**Fun with Play-Doh in 2nd Grade**

Our 2nd graders got creative with Play-Doh while learning about Mollusca which is a group of animals with soft bodies, including snails, clams, squid, and octopuses! 🐌🐚🦑🐙

A little creativity + a lot of learning = a fun way to explore science!

**Science is GROWING at HCA** 🔬

Our 9th grade Biology students are studying bacteria by collecting samples from pond water and swabbing various surfaces around the high school. They placed their samples in Petri plates, observed what grew, and then examined their findings under the microscope.

From the largest organisms to the smallest, there is so much to discover in God’s creation! What a great opportunity for our students to explore the incredible detail and complexity He has designed.

And perhaps this experiment will even inspire a little extra hand washing around campus! 🧼🦠😉

HCA partnered with Valley Haven Camp this year for our Middle School Retreat! Our students spent the day together strengthening friendships, sitting under biblical teaching, and enjoying the outdoor activities Valley Haven has to offer.

We believe intentional time outside the classroom helps in creating a culture where students learn to encourage and care for one another.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Great Day for HCA Cross Country at the Beach Blast! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

The HCA Cross Country team turned in an excellent performance this past Saturday at the Wilmington Beach Blast XC Meet, held at the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course.

Both the boys and girls competed in the Varsity 5K races against a strong field of teams. The HCA boys finished 4th out of 13 teams, while the HCA girls earned a 5th-place finish out of 14 teams.

It was also a big day for the Knights individually, with eight athletes setting new personal records:

Skylar Burns — 20:37
Brady Goble — 20:46
Lily Huckabee — 22:11
Eva Cate Gilreath — 23:58
Olivia Goble — 25:19

🏆 Madelyn Jane Carter led the way for the Knights with an outstanding performance, winning the Varsity Girls race and setting a new PR of 18:24, breaking Cate Hata’s HCA School Record that was set in 2024. This performance also solidified her position as the #1-ranked freshman girls cross country runner in North Carolina.

Congratulations to all of our runners on a great day of racing and continued improvement. Great job Knights! 💙💛
