Cats and dogs speak with their whole bodies. The tail is only part of the conversation.

We may not have tails, but our bodies speak, too. Posture, movement, facial expression, voice, breathing, gaze, timing, distance, tension, and touch are all part of the language we share. Words are only one part of it.

I teach people to understand what’s really going on with their cats and dogs and how to change things—for safer, calmer, better lives together.

I am a hiker. So are many of my clients.

We live in such an amazing place for it. Out on the trail, I often run into people and dogs I’ve worked with.

Seeing these three this morning made me happy.

A lot of people contact me because life with their dogs has become difficult. They’re often surprised to find that what they practice together at home carries over to the trail.

I am grateful for the people who don’t give up on their dogs and are willing to learn something new.
