🎣 Our AP Environmental Science students dove into the “Tragedy of the Commons” through an interactive Let’s Go Fishing activity!
Each student took on the role of a fisherman with a simple goal: catch enough fish to feed their family. But there was a catch—students also had to consider the bigger picture. If everyone caught as many fish as possible, the shared fishery could quickly become depleted, leaving too few fish for everyone.
The challenge was finding the balance between individual needs and the sustainability of a shared resource. Students experienced firsthand how decisions that make sense for one person can collectively lead to the overuse, depletion, and eventual collapse of a common resource.
This hands-on simulation brought an important environmental concept to life: protecting our shared resources requires cooperation, communication, and long-term thinking. 🌎🐟
